The RT Community has suffered a great loos today. Monty, you will be missed.

It's really hard to believe that this happened. He left with so much unfinished and even more of what I believe he had yet to even start. He made his footprint nonetheless and I'm sure his fans (including me), friends, and family are grateful to have witnessed his ability, capacity, and passion for his work.

absolutezilch Hey Big Zam!
He lives on through his work and I'm sure he was an inspiration a lot of people who wanted to follow suit. He had touched a lot of lives while he lived and a lot of people feel the loss and pain of his departure from this realm. While this is terrible news, I guess we can take some solace in the fact that the dude achieved in 33 years what a lot of people aren't able to achieve in a lifetime. Rest in peace, you eccentric, creative, magnificent man.

We remember those who touched our lives and gave us joy and I thank Monty for the work he has done to make the world a bit more creative and I hope his memory will live on

He's one of the reason's I wanted to start Animating and start the Path of becoming a "professional" Artist. A lot of what he's said on various interviews and convention panels has been what has kept me motivated to actually start an original Comic / Animation series that I'm still in the early phases of, but will start once I get the character designs nailed.

If you haven't done so, I suggest watching the Game Time with Monty and Burnie. It's great to hear how he approaches life and work.

Monty was exactly 12 days younger than me. I met him only once, but he definitely left an impression. He was engaging, full of energy, and clearly brilliant. The world is a darker place without him.

@AwYeah: The latest podcast also gave a lot of insight on who Monty was as a person, employee, and friend for those around him. If you didn't get the chance to see it, I'd suggest you watch it as soon as it comes up again.
It may be hard at times to see the RT crew struggle with the loss, but by the end, you'll have a greater appreciation of the time we have on this Earth and how much you can achieve with so little.

Damn, that really sucks. I found this article that shows a bit more info, if you want to know. http://roosterteeth.com/members/journal/entry.php?id=3302319

I pin my high grades and want of learning animation to Monty, When found out when his death was announced (at 4am where I am) I thought I was dreaming.

I kind of don't want anymore IB because I want Monty to have heard it all.

I'm crying so badly for someone I never met or personally knew. But he was what inspired me to go into game design. He wasn't a game designer, but nonetheless his work with design and animation left a great impression on me.

@SatisfiedShark: While not being a designer per se, he did do the combat animations for a video game called 'Afro Samurai'.
IceCube Grand Wizard
@SatisfiedShark:
He worked at Namco Bondai and Midway games studios before coming to Rooster Teeth, so there's that.

@absolutezilch: Based off the awesome Anime/Manga
@B0r1ng: Food Hipsters are people who are Gluten Free while not being allergic.

Ok, so now Edd "Eddsworld" Gould has died and Monty Oum has died. I would find a new animator to look up to but so far it seems to come with a 100% mortality rate.
I still tear up a bit when I watch Edd's tribute videos, I don't think I'll be able to watch Monty's tributes for a while.

@JohnStephen: That one was harsh. Apparently there was another revered source film animator called Kitty0706 who passed away recently too.

@JohnStephen: Sports Center has been different since Stuart Scott died, he was definitely my favourite SC personality.
