So the day is upon us! Now we learn our fates. Will we be hoping for a miracle, for our team to be the dark horse, the under-dog who shows so much spirit and makes it to the final week. Or do we ask only for a smooth, predictable journey through the early stages, wanting only for things to go to plan, for our team not to under-perform. What will it be, who will have the best chance of taking home the elusive bits!

I will be working most likely during the first two games of the day, but for the evening games as long as I'm not playing ultimate frisbee (BECAUSE THAT'S A THING) I'll be online. ALL THE GAMES ARE ON ESPN BTW...like 4 are on ABC during the weekends.

@TheXRayFactor: I am so jubilant over our performances. Commentary was saying that par for our three matches would be a 0-2, 0-4, 0-4. So as long as Spain don't destroy us I think it's been a mighty impressive effort.
Also, I've finished exams now so I can finally start watching some of these games live!

As we've progressed...It looks like that mayyyy be wrong. I'm thinking Spain looks pretty, pretty bad. I think with the last two games from Australia, they'll make things interesting. I agree with XRay!
Even Brazil has looked sloppy. That game against Mexico was a mess. Mexico played great...at some points. There defense got to be a mess in the second half, but they played with a lot more effort than Brazil it seemed like. EDIT: OH MY GOD HOW CAN I FORGET! Brazil was going up against a fucking spider monkey named Ochoa. That was entertaining to watch.
Italy...Italy is just great, and they are going to win it all.

@ItalianBadger: Australia, ranked 62 in the world, putting on exciting (although probably not beautiful or skillful) football while sitting in the group of death.
I just don't know who to go for now. I suppose the initial contenders were always spain, brazil and germany. Germany seems to be the most likely of those three at this stage. Either germany, or some other team entirely, will surely win it from here.

I can't see Germany not winning this world cup. That being said, you can never disregard Italy. Brazil can wreck shit up if Maicon and Fernandinho become starters over Dani Alves and Paulinho as well.
And, as I predicted with a couple of friends, Chile is surprising the world. Damn they are good.

i am heartbroken right now, we were so close to confirming our position, and one careless mistake changes the outcome completely. 2 major mistakes, 2 goals for portugal. though that goal jermaine jones scored was a beauty, we still had that one in the bag man. well we just have to win or tie germany to guarantee it now and i believe that we can.
