What's the most hyped you've been for something that ended up being a total letdown?
Mine's the Eragon movie. I grew up with those books, so I was ecstatic to hear that there was a movie being made. Unfortunately, I was too young to see the warning signs of how awful it was gonna be and got to experience the full letdown as the story I loved so much was butchered on the big screen.

Eragon was pretty damn bad, but the worst one for me was the "City of Bones" movie. I loved those books so much, and was so excited for the movie. I even managed to take my older brother with me as well.
The action was awesome, the first 30 minutes was really good...and then they just took a massive dump on the plot. It was the first time I wanted to walk out of a movie theater, just because they warped the plot and spoiled stuff from OTHER BOOKS. WHO F*CKING DOES THAT?

Gurren Lagann, I watched it cause Monty and Kerry said it was their favourite anime but I really don't think it's anything special.

I would have to say RTX13.... It was hyped so much for me and the only real fun I had was hanging out with my friends rather than enjoying the convention.

With respect to games, most certainly halo 4. The bar was set awfully high by halo 3 though. But generally becoming an 18 year old, a legal adult, was pretty disappointing.

Now, get ready for that curveball, but I'd go as far to say that Proving Grounds was, easily, one of the most entertaining games from the series.

The whole "create your trick on the go" mechanic was really neat, albeit a tad op (well, you could easily rack up > 100M combos). The story and the missions were interesting as well, plus the fact you could change the environment to help you.

The real disappointment was learning, through becoming an adult, that adults totally suck and don't deserve the respect i gave them as a kid. Children and adults are identical. That was the letdown.

Hmm... This is a toughie. I try not to hype things up for myself so i dont get let down.
I guess I'd say Mass Effect 3, which was okay if you don't think about the disappointing things. I think it was more of a letdown to me because it made me feel like I cared for it more than the people responsible for making it. I was ready to replay that series for eternity, but 3 just took that my ability to do that away.
Oh well...

It was actually this scene that ruined it for me, just after he saved his wife/girlfriend from the captivity of some crazy evil guy, he ditches her to go dance with his cousin who completely dilutes the entire love story.
