@JohnStephen:
What? No it wasn't. 10 people could access your library and they could play online. The only thing is you couldn't play the same game at the same time.
For example my library consists of CoD and Halo. I share with John. John could play Halo online while I played CoD online. The only thing is we both couldn't play CoD together on different consoles at the same time.
And if you add 3 games to the mix. I could be playing CoD online. John could play Halo online, and Jill could play Mass effect online. Again the only thing is we couldn't all play CoD at the same time from the same library. But how is this any different? You can't play a physical disk on two consoles at the same time.
aWSOMN360
@Skitts24: A. Microsoft has said many times that no you won't need the kinect to be connected.
B. Even if it was necessary have you guys never heard of the idea of putting a box over it.
aWSOMN360
@Eddie: Correction, John could play Halo online but hes ignorant and bought a PS4 instead.
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
But that still doesn't solve the problem of only one person accessing it.
Let's say you also have Forza, and third friend Jack wants to play it, he can't because John's already using your library. That's how it was going to work.
aWSOMN360
@JohnStephen: Yeah, just like in real life, but lets say you have a brother who live in another area and you still want to share the game with him, you now could.
JohnStephen
@aWSOMN360:
Did you just call me ignorant for wanting a PS4? Do you even know why I want one?
Guest
couldnt they of just had all the "benefits" of drm and family sharing and still allowed offline gaming
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
Let's say you lent your physical copy of Forza to John. How is Jack now gonna play it without John getting off and giving it to him. He can't. I still don't see your argument.
JohnStephen
@aWSOMN360:
Just like in real life?
In real life, I could give one person Forza and another Halo, but with this I can only give one person a game because only one person can play your games at the one time.
CyroWolf
@Skitts24: The reason why it is included is so developers could work on features that involved its functionality, since everyone would have one.
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
You people are not getting it, are you?
You have Halo and Forza. John and Jack don't.
If John is playing Forza from your library, Jack can't play Halo from it at the same time.
If Jack is playing halo from your library, John can't play Forza from it.
Do you understand now?
Eddie
@Skitts24:
They would lose too much money. The only reason these programs were created in the first place was due to the fact that all game sales would be new games and they wouldn't have to worry about not making money from used games. The online part was necessary to make sure you didn't sell your license.
JohnStephen
@aWSOMN360:
Just odd how you said it without any context after I said I was getting a PS4.
Guest
i think everyone on the internet was thinking about all the rare cases where they could not access the internet. moving, broken computer, just crappy unrealible connection myself included by the way was scared that could not play because of these scenarios
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
Yes Jack could still play forza while someone else is playing a different game. No where did it say that this couldn't happen. All it said is that they both couldn't play forza at the same time
Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.
aWSOMN360
@JohnStephen: And thats the reason you can add 10 people, so even if Jacks library is in use, you can use johns or pauls or Fuckheadmcgees if you really wanted to.

and to think i was going to buy a ps4 lol they still will fuck up online play and communcation

And you are calling others ignorant. Well done.
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
Yea you and family members. You are 1 person a family member is another 1.
1 plus 1=2
2>1
I still don't see it.
Physical disk can still only be in one console at a time.

@Eddie:
OH MY GOD YOU ARE NOT GETTING THIS ARE YOU?
I go back to my previous example:
You have Halo and Forza. John and Jack don't.
If John is playing Forza from your library, Jack can't play Halo from it at the same time.
If Jack is playing halo from your library, John can't play Forza from it.
ONLY A SINGLE PERSON, BESIDES THE OWNER, CAN ACCESS THE LIBRARY, NO MATTER WHAT GAME HE OR SHE CHOOSES TO PLAY!
Eddie
@darkjungle:
You can always play your games, and any one of your family members
1 person is you PLUS any 1 of your family members === 2 people. Still more than physical.
I see where I was wrong though where I used the 3 person example. I'm sorry for that mistake.

@JohnStephen: If every body got a their panties in a wad every time the are trolled and cant figure it out, allot of panties would be in wads.
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
That is still better than physical.
You lone a physical copy of Forza to John. John can play it and you can't.
With the Family Sharing both you and John can play it. That's 2 people. Still more than is possible with physical. And I'm not even including that fact that this is all digital, so in order to give you the game I don't have to meet you IRL or mail it to you. With family sharing it would all be instant.
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
I'll use the exact example you used.
You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time
You, and any one of your family members
2 people

oops
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
But with physical I can lend Halo to Jack while John has my Forza. And then as many other people can have as many different games as they want, all at the same time.
With Family Sharing, only John can have a game. The other 9 can only play one of my games when John isn't playing Halo, and usually games are played to a long time.

i have not done anything with this account because i made it 1 hour ago to argue about the x1
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
Yea I guess you're right, but you are still bringing up rare circumstances.
I just don't think the average person is running a game renting service where they are loaning multiple games to multiple people for extended periods of time.
And there will still other options like they can access it on any console through your profile, and the option to give it to someone on that has been on your friends list.
I also don't know that everyone on the internet's friends relied on you to buy games for them. The way it is with m friends is that we all buy our own games.
prodocol
@JohnStephen:
The only reason I would really want digital sharing is like what Mike was talking about, how one of the ten people can buy the game, then we just pass it along. You can't do that if those ten of your friends don't live near you and you can only pass along the physical disk.

@Skitts24:
Adoption isn't free and dogs aren't free to keep. They need food shelter water and toys. Honestly things like this are stupid because if you play your words right you can make something like this for everything.
@aWSOMN360:
I never understood this. I thought it was all just a joke. Are you really adopted?

about the dog thing didnt make it just found i have dogs i realize its not free just thought the pic was funny

Xbox 360 has gone through many changes so theres a good chance Xbox one will over the years I mean remember its not even out yet so hopefully it would get more refined features after launch

"The way it is with my friends is that we all buy our own games. "
Ain't yet you're fighting to defend this Family Sharing service? In theory, it sounds great. But in practice, would it really do much?
Wouldn't you much rather buy your own copy of the game for about $30 Pre-Owned?
aWSOMN360
@Eddie: Thats what the nuns tell me i am, and I'm pretty sure lesbians cant have baby unless they went to a semen bank, so im either adopted or one of them is my real mother and the other my step mother.

@JohnStephen:
I mostly wanted family sharing for times when My dad wants to play my games. He took my GTA IV and I want it back. (My parents are divorced and he doesn't live with me :(
@aWSOMN360:
Well I think you're not being serious, so I'm going to guess you aren't.
I just wanted a real answer m7 :(
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
I guess that's a great use for it, but you're an extreme minority in this situation.
Oh, and I'm also curious about the whole adopted thing since Tereall was harassing you one CHAT Playdate.
I always accepted the "adopted" part as true, but the "parents threw you out of a moving car" part as a joke.
Guest
everyone that was wanting no drm and used games are now saying they dont want to buy a xbox one and the damage is done well thats just some youtube videos but its a little ridiculious that they got what they want and are being stubborn
Eddie
@JohnStephen:
Divorce rates are getting higher and higher each year. I wouldn't call it an extreme minority. There are also other cases like siblings that want to play the same games and stuff.
Guest
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
But your situation is extreme enough, where a parent wants to borrow a game for extended periods of time.
Also, it's actually odd enough for siblings to have separate consoles and separate HD TVs needed for XOne.

I'm not dissing anyone who was a fan of the DRM stipulations (family sharing and whatnot) and at somepoint or another, even with all of the things that people felt were downfalls of the Xbox One, I would have gotten one. But the fact of the matter is, that, the people who were fine with the One the way it was were in the minority. Again, I'm not saying "PS4 RULES XBOX SUX, BLAH BLAH BLAH" or putting down anyone who likes the Xbox One and the way it was before the changes today. But, Microsoft had to make a decision that would help their sales in the future. They saw that their product wasn't selling very well on the pre-order front, and they read the comments and saw why the people weren't buying into the product, and made changes to rectify the situation.
Personally I like the way the exclusives look on both sides, but I will be getting a PS4 first, simply because of the fact that it is $100 cheaper than the One. If by the time they are released they are around the same price, I may have a difficult choice on my hands. I'll definitely now try to get both at some point, but my current decision is based on the price and the fact of what my friends are going to be getting. The only reason I got a 360 over a PS3 was because more of my friends had 360s and Xbox Live, so I could play games with them more often. This time, more of my friends are going to be getting PS4s and so in order to play online with them, I will have to buy a PS4.
So, call me a Bickie Ditch, or whatever you want if you feel like you don't like my opinion on the matter, but I feel that what Microsoft did was in their best interest and will get them more money in the long run. After all, the gaming industry is a game in itself, a game of money (like Monopoly!) and so a companies will do what they must to make sure their product sells and they get the money.

Nintendo's going to win this generation.
We wont notice. No one ever notices. But they always win.

Nice to see the internet doenst change. No matter what someone is going to bitch when something changes. Get over it people. The Xbox didn't really need anything that Xbox one was offering. Half could olny be used by US citizens, and even less of those because a lot of people play used games and share discs, and don't always have reliable internet. The Xbox One didn't need anything fancy, all it needs is good games (which it has) and people to fucking play them (which there will now be more off). So do us all a big favor and SHUT UP!
aStingyMiser
@Bio: Um... no.
There were PLENTY of good features about the Xbox One. It had kinks, yes, but... ya know what, READ THE FUCKING POST ABOVE YOURS THAT THOROUGHLY TEARS APART ALL OF THOSE ARGUMENTS.
prodocol
THIS would be great, but I'm sure people will just get angrier if they change again to make it the best possible.
- +1
SpongeyGString Akari~n!
@prodocol: I don't think they need to be able to play without the Kinect plugged in. Anyone who is paranoid enough to be worried about it shouldn't be buying a console, they might choke on it.
prodocol
@SpongeyGString:
I honestly don't care about the Kinect always being on, I just like the idea of downloaded games having drm but having the family share thing, while disc games have no drm and can be played offline and resold.
ShadowBelmont32
@prodocol: It's too bad that they are now probably afraid to change anything else, because I'm sure they've seen the backlash on this last change. Everything on that chart would work out, but again I don't see them changing again, because while it would be good for the console, many may see it as a bad business move. Then again, I could be wrong, and they could do so and receive fanfare and high praises for it.
JohnStephen
@Eddie:
Oh thank God, I was getting bored without the debate.
Let's dissect, shall we? I'll take it paragraph by paragraph.
1) It's not selling the games back that we're worried about, it's buying the one's people have sold back. Also, there's more than one way to get pre owned games, eg, Amazon, eBay, charity/thrift shops, your friends, etc.
You realize there are people with bad internet in the world, right? You realize there are other people in the world, right? Example, my internet may go down for a week soon enough. If this happens, I'll be able to play many single player games on my Xbox 360 and Steam (offline mode). With old Xbox One, I'm shit outta luck. I can't play the games I'm forced to pay €60 for on the console that cost me €500. Xbox Live is down as I write this, what happens in that scenario? No one can play if you missed your last check in, because as you know, there are many many many many people who don't play daily.
And the region locking? Typical Americans, there are other countries outside America. Don't you know it is cheaper for me to import games? In Australia it's a huge saving. But old XOne fanboys don't realize this.
2) Slightly nicer graphics? Isn't the hardware far better allowing more things to be done with games, making them better and far more enjoyable? Isn't there a Blu-Ray drive allowing game disks to hold more than ever before, also allowing for bigger, better games? If you only care about graphics you obviously don't know enough to have a respectable opinion on this.
Guaranteeing cloud support for all games is the reason for always on internet? You know you could just have the people connect to the internet when using this, right? Halo's multiplayer requires internet too, doesn't mean I have to be on Xbox Live for Skyrim, does it?
You realize pre-owned games aren't killing the industry, right? Have a look at this (link broken, sorry 'bout that folks!) if you don't believe me.
About Steam, of fucking course they require an internet connection to download. New Xbox One will require a connection to download. Everything does. Also, that is like comparing the Xbox Marketplace to PS4. I can sell, borrow, and do whatever I want with PC games. Steam restricts me the same way the new Xbox One will with digital download, that's the price you pay for cheaper games.
3) N/A
4) That is one of the reasons Steam is good, but making up quotes is hardly a valid point, that's how idiots argue with MS Paint comments. It's stupid and biased, well done with that.
5) They are the same, true. But that's like having an election, and wanting one of the candidates a white supremacist to add a little variety to the election. Yes, I would prefer a real difference, but what Xbox One had was retarded.
6) Aren't you whining about it nonstop now? Hypocrisy, ladies and gentlemen!
7) Or make them all Bing based web games, F2P of course (can't really argue this paragraph, can I?
9) It what they do with the video and audio. It's the same reason I don't put many photos up on Facebook, they can do whatever they want with them.
*phew* That was fun!
