What is the most emotional (sad/happy/tearjerking and heartwarming in perfection) cartoon or anime you have ever encountered/seen? And will you ever watch it again/has it changed you at all (as a human/perspective of a certain thing/etc.)?

Mine would be: Clannad/After Story.
and Grave of the Fireflies (THE ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE)

BreadWolf Weinerlord
@M4xwell:
Definitely Clannad (After Story).
Btw thanks for posting a spoiler, just in case anyone hasn't seen it.

I was looking for this particular clip and i COULD NOT find one that wasn't spoiled. In the end, i looked for the longest one.

Tales of Ba Sing Se, from avatar is a good one. The rest is good too but that episode has feels. I crei evre tiem

Hands down and no contest, Sword Art Online, a truly excellent story that made it very compelling commentary on virtual and real worlds and how we act in them can impact from one to the other (via backdrop of deathgame and MMO personas). Watched it many times and am doing so again!

RIP_Krog
@Kythrae:I agree with you on the first half of SAO. The second, however, is not that great. By the second half I am referring to Alfheim Online.

@Kythrae:
I really want to watch that anime. But, as of right now, i am stuck in between Ranma 1/2 again and ToraDora.

Alacaie
@Redblood801: It is really sad... Little soldier boy... NOW I'M DEPRESSED TOO! I hope you're happy...

Kythrae
@shamanowl: I agree the second half not as compelling but it definitely gave us the consuming question of how those people would adapt back into the real world after 2 years living like they did and some consequences thrown in as well for their value system

RIP_Krog
@Kythrae:See I don't wanna know how they adapt. I like to refer to the ending of Baccano when I say that leaving the viewer to fill in the blanks themselves is sometimes better than just making up some ending that will never meet expectations. If you've never seen Baccano, then drop everything you're doing and go watch one of the greatest works of anime I have ever seen.

RIP_Krog
@DashingRainbow:That's really a tough question. Every character has some likable qualities. I guess I'll say Rider. And yes, I'm loving it.

DashingRainbow
@shamanowl:
yeah It's my favourite anime, my favourite character is Kiritsugu cause he's just so badass

RIP_Krog
@DashingRainbow:He is pretty badass. But there's just something about Rider that I love. Maybe it's because the real Alexander the Great was just so cool to begin with.

Kythrae
@ReservoirDog: THAT was a moving set of episodes and then the Naruto ones afterwards really hit the heart strings

@ReservoirDog:
YEAH! I just got to 135, and that was 133... so I feel you there.

Well. Avatar and Legend of Korra are emotional. But Gurren Lagann was much more emotional feels in it. And I was sad when Ed, Edd, n' Eddy ended its my favourite show ever and I was sad it ended.

The last two or three episodes of Planetes were incredibly sad and heartwarming at moments. The anime definitely made me think about space exploration and so on, really cool.
Other than that, people say 5 cm/s and Clannad are really sad, but I haven't watched them yet. Narcissu, if they ever make it into an anime or OVA, it's going to be the saddest thing ever conceived in human nature, though.

@TheXRayFactor:
You would like Clannad. It's a good mixture with comedy and seriousness, with some 'punch in the balls' moments. but if you want those ball-wrenching, but extremely fascinating moments, i prefer the second season: After Story.

@M4xwell:
I can't get past its art style. That's pretty much the only reason why I haven't played the VN/watched the anime yet

M4xwell Insanitarium
@TheXRayFactor:
I wont lie, almost EVERYTHING from Key is the EXACT same art style, but overall it's alright.

@M4xwell:
Angel Beats' art wasn't that much distracting, but I see where you're coming from

I find it a bit funny that most of us would choose an Anime than a Cartoon show as an emotional experience.

Redblood801 Chief Dingus
@M4xwell: It's funny that we would choose an anime or cartoon over an actual emotional experience.

M4xwell Insanitarium
@Redblood801:
Because you can do anything in an anime/cartoon. The world is your oyster. But in the end, it all has a deeper meaning that sometimes ever we cannot comprehend.
We use a cartoon originally as an experience because they are amusing to our senses. We smile at the jokes, laugh at the slapstick, and rage at the twists of sorts. What we may not know, however, is that there's a deeper connection than just witnessing these shows and going on. There will be some episodes which will make you disappointed, shocked, or even depressed only because we have made SUCH a connection with this, our minds are just barely deciphering it but it's there.
Even in cartoons, some animators may show their own life experiences within it to give us a deeper, more philosophical sense of the character. You can see the age, the character, the lives and people this man or woman may have seen or been though all just with the visage. Only because of the connection you make with it and the emotions attached with it.
I can agree with sometimes Real Like sucks. It does to an extent. Sometimes we DON'T want to speak of past experiences or thoughts. But animes or cartoons can 'give us' an answer to these problems we may witness as our days pass and CAN help us in the end ( or harm unfortunately), thus our experiences can be 'alike' with the character you see in a cartoon.
I think that it's wonderful that people like to portray themselves in the shoes of a cartoon or anime and can share experiences and emotions with them. For without those people there on the black-and-white screen of ours, we can become lonely and ask the question: 'is there someone like me, who knows how I feel?' and sulk on 'till the ends of time.

Fry's Dog?
edit: I would post this comment when the image does NOT load for me, Carry On.

M4xwell Insanitarium
@Redblood801:
It's a great episode, nonetheless. Only thing is that it's a bit sad.

Redblood801 Chief Dingus
@M4xwell: I know, that's why I avoid it. I saw it once and... those feels man... they get to you...

@DashingRainbow:I thought that there story was actually more interesting than the rest of the groups story

M4xwell Insanitarium
@forcep:
I preferred Zuko and Iroh's relationship than the chemistry of Aang and Katara.

Redblood801 Chief Dingus
@M4xwell: Aang and Katara's was more predictable while Zuko and Iroh's was more sporadic and dark at times. That is why it is the superior relationship story.

Redblood801 Chief Dingus
@forcep: It is now time for the Fire Nation national anthem. FIRE LORD, MY FLAME BURNS FOR THEE!

@Parks: going with the fact that everyone on MTV is so fake that it's basically a cartoon, I accept this.

BreadWolf Weinerlord
@M4xwell:
Only the VNs. Little Busters and Clannad look very different. The Clannad anime does sorta look like the Little Busters VN.

M4xwell Insanitarium
@BreadWolf:
the Kanon and Air animes look ALMOST EXACT as clannad and even A.B., but I see what you mean.

BreadWolf Weinerlord
@M4xwell:
Ah, alright. More recently they've been getting better, though. Little Busters is fucking beautiful.
I still love Clannad, though.

M4xwell Insanitarium
@BreadWolf:
I have to watch Little Busters. I have had not time to do it over the fact that I am finishing Ranma 1/2 and toradora along with Lucky Star (for the 50th time). Send me a link to the first episode, please? (or just tell me about it)

BreadWolf Weinerlord
@M4xwell:
Lucky Star is fantastic. As is Little Busters. It's a great combination of kawaii, hilarity, and tears. Lots of tears. Not as good as After Story imo, but season 2 still has to come out.
I recommend crunchyroll. They also have a great app.

BreadWolf Weinerlord
@M4xwell:
I'm glad you think so. I was pretty amazed when I first saw it. It gets really good near the end, though. Well, there is one arc early on that's quite good.
I'm just excited for season 2.

ReservoirDog
When that thing happened to Rider in Fate/Zero was very emotional. (trying not to spoil Fate/Zero cause it's awesome)

M4xwell Insanitarium
@ReservoirDog:
YOU BITCH I WAS GOING TO WATCH THAT. FUCKUFUCKUFUCKU (just kidding)

M4xwell Insanitarium
@Redblood801: Oh Jesus I loved the episode. THAT was so good and so.... sad... ;~;

Redblood801 Chief Dingus
@M4xwell: After watching the episode, you will never, NEVER, here the Cheers theme song the same ever again.

M4xwell Insanitarium
@Redblood801: Oh Shit, i forgot that was the cheers theme song. And yes, you're right, Cheers Mate.
