I'd still rather watch a dub than have to read subtitles, no matter how bad the actors are. Except for live action movies. Those just look terrible when they are dubbed over.

I usually choose to watch the dub because I usually watch my anime at night on weekends. I learned my lesson watching the FLCL sub at around 3am. That said, I have no problem with a sub. Usually I check online on whether or not the dub is good.

Code Geass, Clannad, Death Note, Baka Test, and FLCL all have really solid English dubs.
Especially Code Geass.

The only bad part of the Clannad dub are all the background characters. Almost all of them sound TERRIBLE. Gurren Lagann also has a great dub though.
