Marshstomp is one of the best water types. Piplup is also really good. Blazeken is plain badass. My favourite is probably Cyndaquil, i always kept quilava never liked how Typhplosian looked when you used him.

Cyndaquil/Typhlosion is overrated, BTW. Not a well-proportioned design and meh design overall.

Typhlosion don't give a shit.
The design is so simple, just a big old whatever thing with flames coming from it's back. I like it.
However, that isn't why it is my favourite. My second time playing Silver I did a Typhlosion only run, with the moves Flamethrower, Earthquake, Return, and Thunderpunch.
Not only did he obliterate the competition, but we also bonded so much.
Best starter ever.

Replying to Nate: I get the bonding thing. That's why I love Torterra and Hariyama. That's also why I don't think there is a best pokemon. It's one of those things that comes down to personal experiences so much, and I never grew to bond with Typhlosion. His design is a little weak, but that's just my opinion.
That said Jigglypuff is still the worst pokemon.

Though I think you are using overrated too often. As we both stated earlier, if someone has a favourite, then more power to them.

Replying to Nate: Overrated doesn't mean bad, keep in mind. I know I probably overuse it, but still, I use it all the time to show that I don't like things nearly as much as everyone else seems to.

Personally I love every fire type starter, though the best one is Cyndaquil from the original silver version. You could buy Thunderpunch at Goldenrod city and the second you have a Typholsion, you could destroy any water type that comes at you.

I'm torn. The nostalgia in my wants to say Charmander, but my heart wants to say Turtwig, and even more I want to say Cyndaquil. So I'll have to pick them all as the best.
