Alright, I feel like I gotta write this down somewhere.
I really don't like Discord. The way he changes the personality of the mane 6 against their will really bothers me whenever I see it.
Whenever he's not onscreen, I'm fine with whatever the show wants to do. It's just something about him that unsettles me to the point of not enjoying the episode.
There, now I can go to sleep.
What's your opinion of Discord?

i think he is a great villain and his motives are simple 'have fun' so he isn't evil in that sense
aStingyMiser
Oh, look. It's Q from Star Trek.
Nah, we have fun. He's so much fun to watch. I can see why he upsets you, though. To me, though, he's a great villain (better than Q because he's more... I dunno... whimsical). Besides, NOTHING TAKES PRIORITY OVER CHOCOLATE RAIN.

If Discord didn't change the mane 6, I probably wouldn't be bothered by him at all. Because other than that, I like the idea of his character.
It just really irks me that he forcibly changes their personalities to the point of not being the same person anymore.
It strangely reminds me of a rape allegory, and that really bothers me.
(I've never watched Star Trek, and kinda want to. But there's just too much stuff to watch!)

Replying to MadBadCoyote: I know what you mean.
Also, Eddie and shamanowl, I don't think Neal will care.

I apologize in advance Neal. I don't hate Discord, it's just something about his actions in the episodes he's in really bothers me.
aStingyMiser
Replying to MadBadCoyote: I don't think you need to apologize. You acknowledge he's a good character, you just hate him. And even if you though he was terrible, I have far more respect for someone who thinks something and has objective reasoning for disagreeing with the commonality than someone who judges popularity and Metacritic scores as labels of quality.

I'm sorry, I apologize a lot.
And no, I do not hate him, I dislike him. His actions are a little too unnerving for my tastes.

Oh, and here's my drawing of Discord from awhile ago.

Replying to OP: I love him. But I know what you are saying. It is the fact that he is an "out-there" character. He is : over powered, insane and passivly evil. Most people can only handle true evil and justified evil. But he is chaotic evil in the episodes he is shown in. It makes it seem like everything that is canon is useless and this one character can do whatever, whenever, and however.
But the whole changing the mane 6 is actually wrong. He makes them see fault in themĀ selvesĀ and makes them feel the fear they live with everyday. And tricks them into changing themselves in there weakest moments that he puts them through. This is the biggest reason he is my favourite character. He knows how to change people on a deep level (minus Fluttershy who has accepted her faults and help in improving herself which is purposefully shown for character building on both her and Discord's character).
But I know not everybody likes the character and that is fine. And this will probably not help you see it my way but that is okay I hope you just think about it more when you watch the episodes.

After reading through this it makes me feel pretty cool that everyone put my name. But I'm not dumb so after reading the points given I gave my own.
Also that is a great drawing of Discord.

I could see what you said, but only being applied to Rainbow Dash.
Everyone else is forcibly changed against their will. Yeah, he makes them see/think about something they don't like, ( AJ seeing everyone mad at each other, everypony laughs at/not with Pinkie, absolutely nothing for Rarity or Fluttershy) but they don't become their opposite selves by their own choice or specifically because of what he said. He does this to them. HE CHANGES THEIR PERSONALITIES AGAINST THEIR WILL.
(having just re-watched that part) Wow, it's even rapey-ier than i thought.
He's just really unsettling to me after that point in the show. And not in a "oh, its a creepy villian" way, I mean in a "every second he's on screen I kinda wanna stop watching kinda way". It goes back the to disturbing connection to the rape allegory i mentioned from earlier.
If he didn't do that stuff in the maze, I'd probably like him WAY more.
And thanks, that drawing took forever.

Replying to MadBadCoyote: One thing I fucking despise about that episode is that they sacrifice potential character development on Fluttershy for a meh-heh-heh joke. They could've portrayed Fluttershy eventually breaking, but no, it's funnier. I hate wasted potential, I really do.

Replying to AStingyMiser: he changed twlight with out using his powers he tricked her into it
aStingyMiser
Replying to deadshadow: That's interesting, though. That portrays his character. He didn't really trick her, he broke her and showed just how much Twilight cares about her friends. If he was just like "AND THIS IS THE PART WHERE I TURN YOOOOU!" and snapped his fingers then I'd be fucking pissed. Well, as pissed as I could get at a show about magical cartoon horses. So... yeah, really fucking pissed.

Replying to AStingyMiser:thats the only problem i had with that episode but the rest is fine.

Okay, I'll give ya twilight. Sure.
but what he does to everyone else is still really disturbing to me

Replying to MadBadCoyote: I kinda wanna say this. No one's trying to change your opinion of Discord. I get entirely why you dislike him. And that's fine. Validity surpasses desire any day of the week.

I know, i just hadnt even thought about Twi and wanted to say my opinion on what he did to her
(wow that sounds rape-y)

Replying to MadBadCoyote: Try looking at it through more younger eyes. While yes they are actually changed against there will. But how many times will one of them say yes to being changed. Allow me to elaborate on this subject.
AJ is shown the future with no context and told it is the truth by things that her family's life revolves around (i.e apples, that are colored to be the colors of her family) This tells her that the truth can be hurtful and then magic is used to make it worse.
I've already gone into Fluttershy, but Rarity is shown three easy to carry gems. After falling for the trap and trying to get them magic makes her greedier to the point she carves out Tom the rock only seeing a diamond that she always wanted.
Rainbow Dash is told that she could save a place she is loyal to, but then tricked into thinking it is somewhere else.
Twilight faces the thing she is scared of most and that magic will never fix. Losing the only friends she ever had (minus her brother). This is something that is deep in everybody's mind and is one of the scariest thing to happen to someone.
And Pinkie's is a very real one too. As a person I know I've thought that life isn't how it seems. People may not always life with you and could be laughing at you. Even as Pinkie does everything she does she is afraid that nobody truly likes her.
While all of this may be true you must also remember four things about Discord. 1) He is playful in a crazy way. Even wanting to show off his chaos to Twilight 2) He is very thoughtful. He wanted to his fun to last and knew that the mane 6 would beat him so he thought on how to beat them 3) He is in My Little Pony. This show is marketed to a younger generation. Meaning that anytime you watch it you should not think of any sexual tendencies at all other wise your mind permanently makes things worst 4) He does not desire anything more than having fun with chaos currently (future episodes may change that) All he wants to do is sit on his thrown and make chaotic fun, if there where no other people to see it he would get bored make more of himself and repeat after all the other hims where bored also and then make others to show his chaos to then rule them and get overthrown and then later have more fun.

Replying to AStingyMiser: Considering a future episode they actually did develop story with the changing of Fluttershy. They showed she is resilient to Discord and that he is impatient. But I do see what you are saying about Fluttershy's transformation.

"While yes they are actually changed against there will. But how many times will one of them say yes to being changed"
THAT'S the part that bothers me. Because, well one sec...
"This show is marketed to a younger generation. Meaning that anytime you watch it you should not think of any sexual tendencies at all other wise your mind permanently makes things worst "
... Alright let me talk about this. I meant that the idea of what he does narratively reminds me of a rape.
Let me try and explain. The villain of this episode lures our characters into a maze. He manages to separate them, track them down one by one, and forcibly changes them by making them go through something traumatic. This effects our protagonists so much so, that they're barely the same person afterwards.
I said rape allegory. I was not thinking of something sexual while watching the episode.
Back to what I was saying,
I get that he makes them see something they fear the most/something that exposes a flaw in their character, but it doesn't change the fact that he FORCIBLY changes them.
That's the part that disturbs me.
It makes it really uncomfortable for me to watch Discord. That fact that Discord is completely okay with doing something like that to someone else makes him a complete scumbag in my eyes.
"He is playful in a crazy way"
Personally, after what he did, I don't care how silly or fun he is, he's a complete asshole willing to hurt others for a simple laugh.
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm trying to change your opinion of him. I'm not. I'm trying to explain why mine is what it is.
(I'm a little tired, so if this doesn't make much sense right now, I'm sorry. Leave me a question and I'll try to rephrase what I meant after some sleep)
Neal ROLF
Replying to MadBadCoyote: No I still understand that people are not going to like him. And it is fine. I just don't like how you use it with a rape analogy.
What you say is true and your reasoning is sound and all that is fine. I just don't like your wording is all really. And a lot of people I talk to see discord as one dimensional and I just used the points that I use there here. But it is all fine and good.

I really like discord, he's my favourite villain and I was happy to see him return. Everyone tries to make him look evil but at the of the day, he looks a cool guy that's just trying to have a good time and I can appreciate that.

His face and tooth made him the opposite of scary

But now it seems like they are concluding all their villians, so personally I think that they are going to get some new ultra supervillian and they will have to work together with discord and trixie to stop them with the ower of friendship. Kinda like This.
Neal ROLF
I really liked this episode. It is my new favourite. But I want them to bring Discord back with his same craziness, but not harming people. I really didn't like the end where Celestia still doesn't trust him, but I guess that is to be expected.
