Just did a quick search and flights are actually only $2000 return for me, which is surprisingly cheap.
Unfortunately total travel time is 33 hours there and 31 hours back. I don't think my body could handle that.

actually, I might be able to afford it once I receive my paycheck, but that's not till the end of June. It will probably be to late by then.

@deadshadow: things are starting to look good. I talked to my mom about it and she said she was interested in in going to Austin Texas, so I might be getting a free plane ticket to and Hotel room, and if that happens I'll be at RTX.

@oilfire30: Yeah of course, there are 4 legs to the trip. I don't think a plane can fly for 30 hours without refuelling.

First time I'm actually able to go. First 1 I couldn't afford, the last 3 I couldn't take off of work.

I got a ticket when they started selling a limited amount a few days ago. I might be going as Soul from Soul Eater, don't really know if it fit's in with the rest of RTX but eff it I like Soul Eater.

I don't mean to be a downer and I think it might be a bad idea bringing this up but I feel like it's important to bring this to the attention of as many people as possible who are a part of this community.
On Friday morning at 01:50 am, five teenagers were headed to the RTX convention in an SUV and were struck by a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the highway. The SUV and the car were then hit by an eighteen weeler truck that couldn't slow down in time. Three of the teenagers, namely Dale Neibaur, Kyle Mathers and Holly Novak died at the scene. The 78 year old man, Kenneth G. Frazier and his dog who were in the other car travelling the wrong way also died. More details about this story can be found on the following links:

This is a devastating loss and one of those extremely sad occurrences where it may be extremely difficult to find a silver lining. The only recourse people can gain from this is to be careful and stay safe when you are travelling by road. This is an extremely unfortunate situation where the teenagers were completely not at fault and just got very unlucky. My thoughts and prayers go out to their families at this difficult and trying time and hopefully the outpouring of love and support from the community should provide some solace to the parents of the deceased teenagers. @absolutezilch: That sucks. This is one of those times where you really feel glad to be alive. It's lucky for Hannah and Kevin who luckily survived. However we should feel bad for the 3 teenagers who were confirmed dead. My prayers and thoughts go out to the families of Dale Neibaur, Holly Novak, and Kyle Mathers.

@Mike: I saw you in the lobby of the hotel right before it I think, but I was talking to the manager of the hotel about how weird the event must be for him. Did you not hit the exhibition floor at all? It was all kinds of fucked/great.

@absolutezilch: eh, Andy and Mica Burton played Yugioh and only about 20-30 people showed up. I doubt a ton of people would go. BTW, Andy sucks at Yugioh
