be me
be 11
watch G4
see Oblivion on said network
it looks like Skyrim
let 3 years pass
let the graphics of Oblivion age (fairly poorly)
look at Oblivion after not seeing it for three years
freak out because the game doesn't look as good as it once did
move on with your life and play Fallout 3
let five more years pass and make a long unfunny post on a Podcast forum

Decide which path you want to take and go down it. It's not as easy to be a member of every guild in Oblivion as it is in Skyrim. Walk into every gate you see, because the loot in there is great.

go to Cheydinhal
get under one of the smaller bridges
wedge yourself in between the underside of the bridge and the river bank
mash the jump button until you max out acrobatics (you may need to hold a direction or occasionally reorient yourself to avoid jumping out of place)
sleep repeatedly and enjoy the 5 level ups to speed
abuse your acrobatics to skip certain dungeons entirely and get crazy equipment early

@deadshadow: I can't wait for Skyrim to graphically age as bad as the older ES games.
Master_Hater
@Parks: it already has, just look at the terrain in the wooded areas and then look at Witcher 3 or the Fallout 4 trailer.

@Parks: well it has 2 things that will help stop that 1) is the artistic way everything is modeled 2) mod support can make it look more than real
absolutezilch Hey Big Zam!
@deadshadow: I played Skyrim for like two hours, got overwhelmed by the sheer variety of items I was getting and put it on that forever-but-we'll-call-it-temporary gamer hold.
I think Michael has spoken about it on the podcast but didn't he mention how he thinks, despite having much lower graphical fidelity, Oblivion feels like a much better game offering a more significant challenge than Skyrim does?
Parks Ass To Ass
@Master_Hater: I played a little of it over the summer, I think it still looks great.

@absolutezilch: skyrim was made to be kinda a game almost anyone can play so it was toned down in complexity, now about it being a challenge I'm not far enough along to tell

@deadshadow: Completely agree, Skyrim was my first elder scrolls game and I got really into it. Haven't gotten around to any of the other ES games yet though.

@oilfire30: Oblivion was my first elder scrolls game, I think its more challenging than skyrim. Most magic sucks in it that I've used, I love having the magic key on the keyboard though. Makes casting self heals really nice

To start I'd advise getting the Unofficial Patches, Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2, DarnifiedUI, maybe a Weather mod and (If you've got a halfway decent PC) Open Cities Classic/Reborn. If companions are your thing Vilja and Ruined Tail are really well done although Ruined Tail isn't voiced. Quest mods aren't really necessary until you've finished a few quest-lines but there is a tonne of story/Worldspace mods.
