Football (Proper)?
That's what it was last time you mentioned something like this.
SpongeyGString Akari~n!
@TheXRayFactor: That's one point for me.
I don't think anyone on here follows football (I know I don't).

@SpongeyGString:
I know, and I feel sorry for all those lost souls
Easily one of the best matches ever

@TheXRayFactor: I find it extremely boring to watch.
Personally I prefer tennis.

I was planning to play some vidya while listening to the game, but I just couldn't get my eyes off the TV. Seven goals, man; Italy scoring 3 in 10 minutes; 2 equalizers, 1 massive come-back
I can't believe what just happened
ItalianBadger
@TheXRayFactor: Incredibly intense....but I'm also realizing how old Italy is getting...

@italianbadger:
I'm not sure how well you guys are doing at the goalkeeping department, but you'll be extremely fucked when Pirlo retires.
At least you'll have Balotelli to destroy whoever gets on his way for a long while

Does this mean I'm not the only one who is excited for the world cup? Australia just qualified on Tuesday, with a really late goal from the sub. It was so tense!
ItalianBadger
@TheXRayFactor: Buffon has been great, but seeing him today just gets me worried....35 is pretty old. Pirlo can keep playing, but just keep taking free kicks lol. Upper 30s and soccer don't mix too well.
Balotelli and I was about to say De Rossi, but he's already 29!
@1: Naw people care on here. I would say more people on CHAT care about soccer then other sports.

@SatisfiedShark:
Wow
@1:
Hey, nice to hear about it! I remember the golden days, with Cahill, Thompson, Vidmar, Viduka... I might be forgetting someone, unfortunately. That NT will always be deep in my heart, though.
Are you planning to go watch the WC? I know it's a very long trip, but who knows, right?
1
@italianbadger: Awesome I'll have people to talk to when I'm awake at 4am watching games next winter.
I wouldn't worry about Buffon. He is amazing and 35 isn't that old for a keeper. Australia's Schwarzer is 40 and a fantastic keeper, he is probably at the top of his game now.

@italianbadger:
What? Buffon is 35?
Man, I thought he was almost 40-ish. He's probably going to retire from the NT after the world cup, anyways.
1
@TheXRayFactor: Wow you do know your soccer! We still have Cahill, and he still doesn't mind a header. Thompson gets used as a super-sub now, which is good with me.
While I did just get a job that pays fairly well, the trip across the entire pacific ocean might be a little too pricey! Although it could be worth it to avoid the 4am winter wake-ups.

@TheXRayFactor:
Not the best team, but damn do we have the best fans.
Did you see us on the way out of the Euros, 88th minute, losing 4-0 to Spain.
The Irish crowd starts singing the Fields of Anthenry...

@1: I honestly cannot believe how well United States are doing in the qualifiers (either with against sucky teams or they changed dramatically since 2010).

@1:
Well, it certainly sucks to wake up so early, but I guess it would also be a great way to start off the day, wouldn't it?
@JohnStephen:
To be honest, one of the few things I remember from the Euro, besides Italy v England and Greece v Russia. So much passion.

@M4xwell:
Come on now, CONCACAF is a joke. Besides Mexico, there isn't a single decent squad to beat the US.
1
@TheXRayFactor: I'm guessing two teams qualify from that federation too right? Wow wonder who that will be....
TheXRayFactor Based Deak
@1:
Nope. Top 3 qualifies, with the fourth place going to a playoff against the first of Oceania (which I'd guess is NZ once again, as always).
1
@TheXRayFactor: That explains how Trinidad and Tobago and other countries like that get in. Seems unfair. In 2006 when Australia was in Oceania, we had to play off against a South American team. Which was totally unfair, although when we beat Uruguay to go to Germany it was a lot more exciting than beating Iraq to go to Brazil... It will definitely be New Zealand. Who will be the third and fourth for North America?
TheXRayFactor Based Deak
@1:
Costa Rica is in third so far, and, from what I recall, Honduras in fourth.
Going from OFC to the AFC was a great move for you guys.

the nfl is going on?
1
@TheXRayFactor: Definitely. Before, reaching the world cup was a rare event, now it's expected. And we're still probably the second best team in asia. It sounds like there are way to many qualifying spots for North America considering the number of teams it has, surely?
TheXRayFactor Based Deak
@M4xwell:
It's saddening to see France like that.
I miss Zizou.
@Skitts24:
I don't know. Is it?
TheXRayFactor Based Deak
@1:
They have over 30 nations competing there, but almost all of them are just plain awful. I think it shouldn't have the #4 to go to a playoff. I mean, it feels so weird to have the champion of a federation play another game to qualify to the world cup.
